Retail Manager Role:

Managing employees and overall efficiency of a retail store or online retail site. Expanding sales productivity of the retail site.

Other Duties:

  • Interviewing potential new retail employees
  • Deciding on new hires with the human resources department’s approval
  • Training employees in sales, warehouse management, stocking, inventory, customer service, being a cashier, and other relevant skills
  • Managing employees, making sure they’re on their best behaviour, appropriately representing the company, and maintaining a positive attitude
  • Delegating tasks to employees
  • Scheduling employees to fit their weekly hours allotments
  • Offering pay raises and advancement opportunities to deserving employees after discussing the matter with payroll and human resources
  • Maintaining the store at optimum sales productivity by making sure all items are in stock and shelved properly throughout the store and in the warehouse
  • Reaching out to existing customers and creating new sales opportunities
  • Communicating with staff, customers, other stores, and other departments in person, over the phone, and by email
  • Maintaining inventory and ordering new stock when necessary
  • Reporting on the retail site’s productivity, making sure the site is meeting financial quotas
  • Ensuring that the retail site meets all quality standards and regulations
  • Inspiring the retail team with a positive attitude and enthusiasm
  • Having sufficient product knowledge and customer service skills to help customers with questions that are too advanced for the rest of the retail team
